You'll see that people are raving about this quirky little gem which many are calling the best café in Lewisham. Open until 5pm on weekdays and Saturdays and from 10am- 4pm every Sunday, the Good Hope serves a delicious range of breakfasts, lunches and sweet treats and also provides gluten free and vegan options. There's a children's menu too and the whole place is friendly, accommodating and cosy. With a regular book group there's a real sense of community here, and better still, the coffee has been touted as the most delicious in the area.

The fact that the Good Hope is such a popular choice with coffee and food lovers is appealing in itself, but hearing the back story makes it even more attractive. The café is run by Billy Mizen, a trained patissier whose brother Jimmy was tragically killed in May 2008. Located just a mile away from the place of Jimmy's death, the café is a hub for the local community which also provides training and work experience programmes for young people, as well as supporting young people with autism.  All proceeds from the business go towards the running of various local charity and community based projects.
