There is a buzz around Birmingham as the HS2 becomes ever
increasingly nearer to completion. This high speed rail link to
London will bring London and Birmingham closer together and with
factors such as the rising cost of accommodation and office space
in London, many white collar companies are looking to relocate to
the Midlands.

The newly constructed railway station in Birmingham at Curzon
Street has seen an explosion of real estate interest in the
surrounding area  particularly in Eastside, Digbeth and the
eastern side of the City Centre .

According to the Birmingham City Council these areas alone are
enough for 14,000 new jobs and somewhere in the region of 2000 new
homes. In addition the area around the railway terminus is likewise
getting a makeover and regeneration. The Martineau Galleries looks
set to become a new shopping centre and retail area complete with
leisure facilties and hotels.

According to Birmingham City Council the third main area to
benefit from the HS2 plan is the Snow Hill area, traditionally the
financial district established when Birmingham was the industrial
powerhouse of Britain.

It is easy to forget that Birmingham was once the powerhouse of
the British Industrial empire and at one time one of the most
influential areas in the country. With globalisation and the
closing of vital industries, Birmingham's influence has faded yet
in the view of economists, looks likely to have a resurgence.

Birmingham has fantastic connectivity, affordable housing and
reasonable business rents and rates. When compared to London, a
Birmingham based business comes at a fraction of the running
costs.
